Movie Night: Holy Rollers Documentary

I saw this documentary several months ago on Netflix.  I gravitated toward it for the fact that I myself am a Christian and found it fascinating how and why a church blackjack team would develop.  For those who don’t know, this documentary follows a Christian blackjack team which started at a church and their rise and fall.  It’s also the story about the security at casinos and how card counters are picked off.

Who are they?  Some of them are actually pastors.  Their strategy?  Card counting.  Their inspiration? Although each are different, the original unanimous reasoning is to defraud the casinos out of as much money as possible before they get kicked out for counting cards.

It’s an interesting tale on how, even with card counting, winning is not guaranteed and team dynamic makes a difference.
